All staff are provided with room and board for the entire length of their contract in addition to salary over the seven-week employment period. Salary ranges are from $1500/season to over $2500/season based on position, experience and certifications. Staff can also receive an additional bonus at the end of the summer, and additional pay opportunites are available. Each staff receives 1.75 days off for the weekend, and some hours off each day. The work week is from Monday Morning until early Saturday Afternoon.
This is an opportunity that is excellent for those students interested in the fields of education, environmental sciences, social sciences, and any future professions that interact with youth. We provide a comprehensive training for staff in all aspects of camp life, including, Red Cross First Aid and CPR, team building and dealing with issues that effect children today
We offer a variety of staff positions, ranging from counselors to administrative positions. The counselor positions are typically entry level positions, and knowledge of working with children is important. Some certifications are required for some positions ( i.e. Life guarding certifications for waterfront counselors). There is a comprehensive staff training, and some opportunities to gain Red Cross certifications will be made available if possible . All counselor positions have residential responsibilities and live in the cabins with the children. For in depth position description please contact the Program Director.

Counselor / Instructors : We have counselor positions open for this summer ! Our staff live in the cabins with the children, and teach classes in a course area, such as Outdoor Environmental Education, Waterfront, Shooting Sports or Camp Crafts. The rest of the day is spent supervising children in a multitude of activities. We would prefer people with prior experience working with children, but we do have an extensive training program before the children arrive. We also train staff in each of the program areas and offer some first aid certification opportunities. The position lasts for 7 weeks. Counselors must be 18 or older and have completed at least one year of college. If you are interested in this position, please submit a staff application and three references.
Assistant Counselors : Four Assistant Counselor positions are available for those staff who are at least 17 years of age and have completed 12th grade. These staff live in the cabins with children, and are assigned to assist in teaching a class in a course area. Each day at least 3-5 hours are spent assisting in the kitchen. This is a paid position which required the Junior Counselor to reside at camp for a seven week period. The Junior Counselor position is considered the final year of the four year training program. Volunteer Counselors : Individuals who wish to volunteer for a week at camp need to fill out the Volunteer Application , three reference forms and participate in our Volunteer Training. You will be assigned to assist our staff in a cabin and a course area. Please contact the Program Director for more details. We ask that only those individuals who have completed 11th grade and are at least 16 years of age and older apply.
Health Director / Nurse: We have 1 position available. The camp Nurse is responsible for all the camper health forms. They review the information, screen the children when they come into camp, disseminate the medical information to staff as necessary, and dispense daily medications. The Nurse also does cabin inspection and a daily sick call. We ask that the "Camp Nurse" be a currently certified RN, LPN or EMT w/1st Aid and CPR for the professional Rescuer and some experience or background working with children. The position runs for 7 weeks, including one week of staff training. The Nurse has a private room and is provided food for their entire stay. Please submit a staff application and three references.
Assistant Nurse: We have 1 position available. The Assistant is responsible to assist the camp nurse in all their assigned duties. They will help review the information, screen the children when they come into camp, disseminate the medical information to staff as necessary, and dispense daily medications. The AN also serves as a driver for non-emergency transport. We ask that the "Assistant Camp Nurse" be a currently certified RN, LPN or EMT w/1st Aid and CPR for the professional Rescuer and some experience or background working with children. This position also needs a current clean NJ drivers license and ability to take the Defensive driving course offered at Rutgers University. The position runs for 7 weeks, including one week of staff training. The Assistant Nurse has a private room and is provided food for their entire stay. Course Area Coordinators : Our Coordinators live in the staff housing separate from the children, but are sometimes required to assist with cabins. Each Coordinator is responsible for a course area, such as Outdoor Environmental Education,Natural Resources, Waterfront or Creative Arts. The rest of the day is spent supervising staff and children in a multitude of activities. Coordinators can also offer afternoon recreational activities for the children. Coordinators are also required to patrol camp one night a week and run meals for one day ( on a rotational basis). We would prefer people with prior supervisory experience. We have an extensive training program before the children arrive. We also train staff in each of the program areas and offer some first aid certification opportunities. The staff work from 8:30 am on Monday until 2 PM on Saturday, with time off daily. Please submit a staff application, background check release and three references.
Camp Clerk / Store Manager : This person needs to be very organized! They need computer skills and experience with Microsoft Access and databases. They are responsible for the camp store and maintain camp store accounts. This position also assists the Camp Secretary in filing, data entry and organizing information for registration. We require a person at least 21 yr. old who has organized work habits, computer skills, experience in business procedures, good communication skills, and of course, human relation skills. The position is part time starting June 1st and full time for 7 weeks at camp. The clerk usually works a 40 hour week and is provided with room and board.Please submit a staff application, background check release and three references.
Camp Chef/ Camp Cook :The Chef is responsible for the successful operation of the kitchen including the ordering, preparation and serving of all food and beverages for 150 to 200 people. The Chef is responsible for the development of the menu, supervising the overall sanitation of the dining facility and supervising kitchen staff.The Cook assists the chef with the operation of the kitchen. We would prefer people with prior dining hall experience.Both positions run for 8 weeks, including two weeks of staff training.
