The Lindley G. Cook 4-H Youth Center for Outdoor Education and the NJ4H Department Science and Technology Program Committee invite you to the overnight science camp program this summer at the state 4-H camp. The program begins Tuesday, June 30th and ends with a science fair on Friday, July 2nd. Parents are invited to attend the workshop demonstrations.

The cost of the program is $200.00 per child. This year we are offering a brand new side to S.E.T. camp and that is the day program option. The day option cost $150 per child.

Children, 5th – 8th graders, will be spending four days at camp for hands on learning experiences in one of the S.E.T initiative subject areas. Each camper will chose one workshop topic to explore, and will have six sessions in that topic area. Each session will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.

Registration and sign up for workshops will be online. Please follow the link provided to download the registration form. Children will be fully registered when we receive payment, health form and participation agreement.

The Speed of Light:  Designing a Super Coaster

Ever wondered how you keep from flying off the track on a fast roller coaster?  In this engineering challenge you will work in small groups to design super roller coasters.  By creating the coaster design, attaching lights, and creating a power source your challenge is to make the most exciting ride imaginable that will be racing at the Camp Science Fair.

Coral Oases, Oceans, and Lakes (COOL) Camp

Are corals animals or plants?  At the COOL camp, learn the answer to this question and many more about the largest life form on Earth.  Through a series of hands-on scientific experiments, you will discover what it is like to be an oceanographer, exploring diverse aquatic environments.  In particular, we will measure key properties of lakes and oceans such as temperature, salinity, and clarity and determine how these properties affect the biology.  Welcome aboard!

Chuck It!

Discover the physics of flight as you construct instruments to launch projectiles and measure their distance, speed, and velocity. If Catapults, sling shots and rocket launchers are your thing, this is the workshop series for you.
