Here is what parents and campers have to say about camp!

Parent comments from surveys...

"This was my son's sixth summer at your camp and we are so happy to have found it.  Every year is a great experience and we look forward to next year.  The camp site is wonderful and the staff is excellent.  Thank you for all you offer and have given to my son over the years."

"Both of our children, Dan  (13) and Kate (11) attended session 5 this summer.  This was Dan's third year and Kate's second at 4-H Camp.  As was the case in previous years, they both learned a lot this summer, established life-long memories, made new friends, bolstered their self-confidences, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  We couldn't be more pleased with the entire 4-H Camp experience.  Thank you so much!  "

"My daughter attended camp for the past two years and loved every second of it. She cried when she left this year because she will miss her new friends and great counselors. We will be back again next year. Little brother can't wait until he is old enough to go. We will be doing the family weekend in October so we can have as much fun as she did!!"

"My daughter came home from camp more excited than I have seen her in a long time!  She could not stop talking about all of the fun things they did.  As a child, I attended similar types of camps, and I relived those fond memories as Kristie shared her week with me.  There are many types of camps available to children today. My nephew attends one with go-carts, air conditioning, etc. but to me, your 4-H camp provides kids with a true camp experience!"

"This was Alexandra's 3rd year at camp.  Her brother Max also attended, he was in cabin 4, his 2nd year.  Both have so much to say when they come home from camp.  Max enjoyed  boating while Alexandra liked the outdoor cooking, she'd like to be a chef one day.  They both talked about capturing the island, that seemed to be a hit.  Personally, I'm glad that there will be a family weekend this October, we plan to attend.  4-H Camp always brings back fun, happy memories, just driving into Stokes and smelling the pine needles, you know you are there.  We make a point to hike Tillman's Ravine and Buttermilk Falls every year as well.  I'm hoping that Alex will consider being a CIT and becoming a staff member when she's old enough.  Just the fact that they talk about going next year as soon as they leave says it all. "

"Our daughter absolutely LOVED camp and has not stopped talking about everything that she did and learned!  I was nervous that it would be hard for her to be away for the first time without knowing anyone in her cabin.  Cousins in the other cabins made her feel comfortable.  I need not have worried for she apparently blossomed and was well adjusted and felt right at home.  I am extremely grateful to the staff for making this first time away from home such a wonderful experience for her.  She has already made plans on returning next summer and has convinced her sister to join her!  It is fabulous knowing that the next generation of Klevze's are continuing to fill the cabins at camp and the values and traditions that I still hold dear to my heart are continuing to be taught.  "

"Thank you, Jim! Every year gets better and better!!!  You send my son home a better person every week you have him!  His true friends and relationships aren't with the kids he sees in school..... they're with the people that he stays in contact with all year long that he has met through your camp!  I am truly grateful for everything you and your staff do!!!  ....and so is he!!!!!!!"

"It's quite a long ride for my daughter to attend Lindley, but it is unquestionably worth the trip. She has thoroughly enjoyed every year, and always looks forward to returning. Your staff and facility have been great for her and her self esteem, and given her many happy memories."

Camper Comments

"4-H Camp was a blast! I had so much fun, and probably all of the other kids there did too! We made friends, sang songs, had a carnival, and did other extremely cool things. Before 4-H camp began, the camp sent you a paper that told you to pick 5 activities, they included survival, boating, archery, pottery, newspaper, outdoor cooking, fishing, explorer, and many other fun things. You had to number them 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, and the people at camp try their best to put you in your first 3 choices. I had tons and tons of pure fun and excitement! I participated in Archery, pottery and outdoor cooking. They were all awesomely cool. I did archery in the morning. That was fun because they taught me how to shoot safely, safety rules, and line commands. I liked learning this so I can shoot properly, know the line commands and be safe while shooting on the line. Second I did pottery that was really fun because we got to push it, roll it, and play with it just to get it soft. Our teacher also taught us how to make the pottery on a wheel and how to spin it. I got to make a bowl, and was able to take it home. Third I did outdoor cooking that was fun because we got to learn how to make a fire and how to make food over the fire. One of the best parts was that we got to eat all the food we made. We made all sorts of amazing and good food like pizza, pies, muffins, and lots more. Another best part of camp for me was having my friend Holly at camp. She is a friend from school. I also met some other extremely cool friends. I love 4-H camp and want to go back and do it all over again. "
