For those who are interested in Volunteering their time at camp, we offer a variety of opportunities. These opportunities include, Community Service Days, Volunteer Counselors at Summer Camp, Camp Advisory Council and Volunteering for Special Events.
Community Service Days: We are planning two Community Service days this fall, and two this spring. Please visit our calendar for details.
We also have a number of projects that require special skills, for example we need a carpenter, mason or electrician. If you have one of theses skills, please contact us to set up a project to meet your interests and availability.
Special Events: Every fall we are offering one free community event. On the last Saturday of October we will be holding our annual Halloween Happenings. This event includes hay rides, pumpkin painting, a haunted house and more. Please contact camp if you are interested in volunteering for these events.
Volunteer Counselors at Summer Camp: The process of becoming a volunteer counselor at 4-H Summer Camp is as follows; the first step is to fill out a Volunteer Application and three reference forms. After receiving your application, you may be called for an interview. All volunteer counselors are required to complete an online training program and are requested to attend a day of our staff training program in June. We ask that only those individuals who have completed 11th grade and are at least 16 years of age and older apply. If you have any questions about being a Volunteer Counselor, please contact the Director at (973) 948-3550 or email.
Camp Advisory Council : The mission of the Camp Advisory Council is to promote interest in L. G. Cook 4-H Camp by helping to provide the resources necessary to enlist financial and community volunteer support. Keeping with modern trends, without losing sight of traditional 4-H teachings, from time to time we will suggest improvements that will enhance the camp's physical environment and youth development. The advisory council meets four times a year. If your are intersted in learning more, please contact Jim Tavares ,Camp Director.
